Colombian VP touches down in Nigeria 

Francia Márquez, Vice President of Colombia, arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Saturday for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between her country and Nigeria.

The visit, which runs from August 30 to September 2, 2025, is expected to deepen diplomatic, economic, and strategic cooperation between the two countries. Discussions will focus on key areas of mutual interest, including governance, trade, agriculture, energy, education, security, and women’s empowerment.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, shared the announcement via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, emphasizing the significance of the visit in enhancing South-South collaboration.

“This historic engagement will strengthen ties in trade, agriculture, education, energy, culture, and women’s empowerment, opening a new chapter in South-South collaboration. Together, we are building bridges and shaping a future of shared prosperity,” Shettima stated.

This high-level diplomatic visit marks a major step forward in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to foster closer ties with Latin American nations, particularly in promoting inclusive development and shared prosperity.
