SWAN Cup Kicks Off 12 Dec

This year’s edition of the Sports Writer Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Lagos State chapter, football championship, the SWAN Cup will hold from 12-17 December.

This was made know yesterday by the Chairman of Lagos SWAN, Fred Edore, at a press conference organised to unveil the emblem of the championship at the SWAN secretariat, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Edore said the association has set up a seven-man sports committee to organise the championship. The committee has Godwin Enakhena as the chairman, Segun Ikuesan, secretary, while Victoria Aigbiriho will serve as the assistant secretary. Other members of the committee are, Alfred Okoligwe, Ayo Bada, Kunle Adeleye and Wale Joseph.

The committee is expected to source for sponsorship and decided on the organisation of the matches. “We expect the committee to work on the modalities for the preliminary and the knock out stages of the tourney as well as co-ordinate the event,” Edore said.

The chairman also revealed that a SWAN award which will be organised in conjunction with the Lagos State government and Super Sports Nigeria will hold. Edore said the award will be tagged Lagos City Award.
