Although there is speculation that Jonathan may contest under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027, he has not yet confirmed his decision.

Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has said she is not interested in returning to the Presidential Villa.

She explained that Nigeria’s problems are too heavy and she would rather enjoy peace away from power.

Speaking in an interview, Mrs Jonathan said:
“The problems in Nigeria are too much. If God helps you leave that situation, you should thank Him. Why should I want to go back there? I need peace, and my peace is enough.”

Her statement comes as pressure grows on former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Recently, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga advised Jonathan not to listen to those urging him to run, reminding him of his 2015 defeat.

Although there is speculation that Jonathan may contest under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027, he has not yet confirmed his decision.
