Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has said that the greatest birthday gift she could ever receive as she turns 65 would be to see the completion of the long-abandoned National Library project in Abuja.

She explained that the project, which has been left unfinished for many years, is important for the nation’s growth, education, and knowledge development, and completing it would bring her immense joy.

Mrs Tinubu also announced the launch of a new Education Fund to support “special projects.” According to her, the initiative is aimed at improving learning opportunities and supporting programs that will benefit young people across the country.

She appealed to friends, family, and well-wishers to contribute to this cause, stressing that their support would go a long way in shaping the future of Nigeria’s education system.

In a video message released on Tuesday, ahead of her 65th birthday on September 21, the First Lady urged people not to spend money on gifts, flowers, greeting cards, or newspaper advertorials in her honor. Instead, she asked that such goodwill be directed toward the Education Fund.

She further shared that donations can be made through Zenith Bank account number 1310414977, adding that contributions to the project would serve as a lasting legacy far greater than material presents.

By making this appeal, Mrs Tinubu emphasized her desire to use her birthday celebration as a platform to promote education and national development, rather than personal fanfare.
