Four members of a sophisticated organised crime network have been sentenced for carrying out a string of high-value burglaries across London and Hertfordshire, with the total cost of stolen goods and damage to businesses estimated at over £2 million.

The gang-Lewis Northover, 31; Scott Logan, 36; Sean Bennett, 38; and Sachon Morgan, 33, targeted convenience stores, electronics outlets, and jewellery shops in a series of fast and highly co-ordinated raids.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Flying Squad said the operations displayed “a high level of planning and preparation,” with the men using stolen high-powered vehicles to smash into premises and flee within minutes.

In a later wave, between April 2024 and January 2025, Northover, Logan and Morgan struck at least 35 more businesses, including several South London jewellery stores, hiding stolen property in secluded locations – at one point using a churchyard as storage.

The breakthrough came in January 2025 when Flying Squad officers placed the suspects under surveillance, tracing them to stolen vehicles and eventually intercepting them after a raid on an electronics store in North West London.

Logan and Morgan were arrested at the scene with stolen stock, an angle grinder, and high-powered electric bikes. Northover was captured in the following weeks. Bennett, arrested separately, was found in possession of £80,000 worth of stolen silverware at his Hatfield home.

At Kingston Crown Court, Northover and Logan were each sentenced to six years and nine months, alongside Serious Crime Prevention Orders. Bennett received four years and ten months plus a £2,550 cash seizure, while Morgan was jailed for two years and seven months.

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Mather, who led the investigation, said: “Shopkeepers and communities were horrified by this group’s brazen raids. They thought speed and stolen cars made them untouchable, but our officers tracked them down through painstaking surveillance, forensic work, and countless hours of CCTV review. This case shows how determined we are to take the fight to organised gangs and protect communities from intimidation and loss.”

Police confirmed that the case has contributed to a 16% reduction in business robberies across London in the past month, as officers continue to focus on the most prolific offenders.
