FG issues warning against possible flooding in 15 states

The Federal Ministry of Environment has warned residents of certain areas of the country to expect heavy rainfall and a possibility of flood.

The announcement made on Thursday, was issued by the National Flood Early Warning Centre of the Federal Ministry of Environment.

The statement by Usman Abdullahi Bokani, the Director of the Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, highlighted the areas at risk of flood in the coming days.

The affected areas are Afikpo in Ebonyi State, Edor, Ikom, Itigidi, Akpap in Cross River State, Gwarzo, Karaye in Kano State, Anka, Gummi, Kaura Namoda, Maradun, Shinkafi, Bukkuyum in Zamfara State, Dampar, Duchi, Garkowa, Gassol, Gembu, Gun Gun Bodel, Kambari, Mayo Ranewo, Mutum Biyu, Bandawa, Ngaruwa in Taraba State, Eziama, Umuahia in Abia State, Geidam, Kanama, Potiskum in Yobe State, and Langtang, Shendam, Wase in Plateau State.

Other states which could also be affected by the heavy rainfall and be at the risk of flood are Borno State (Ngala); Imo State (Okigwe, Otoko); Niger State (Sarki Pawa); Sokoto State (Sokoto, Wamakko, Isa, Shagari, Makira); Kaduna State (Kafanchan); and Akwa Ibom State (Oron).
