Dangote Industries Limited has again warned truck operators against the unauthorised use of its logo, saying the act has dragged the company’s image into needless embarrassment.
The company raised alarm that despite repeated cautions, some truckers with no ties to Dangote still brand their vehicles with its logo, with many of those trucks later involved in incidents wrongly linked to the group.
In a statement, Dangote vowed to tighten monitoring, work with security agencies, and drag offenders to court.
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity,” the company stressed.
Dangote also decried the wave of misinformation linking its fleet to road accidents, urging the media and the public to verify facts before spreading false claims.
The group runs one of Africa’s largest commercial fleets with over 12,000 trucks in Nigeria, more than 3,000 of which belong to third-party contractors. On a daily basis, over 6,000 vehicles are on the road, sustaining more than 36,000 direct and indirect jobs.
