Nigerian juju music legend, Ebenezer Obey, has debunked widespread rumours of his death and claims that he recently suffered a stroke, describing them as “lies from the kingdom of darkness.”
In a video posted on his Instagram page on Monday, the 83-year-old singer appeared with his two sons, singing joyfully to reassure fans of his well-being.
He captioned the clip: “Stop the rumours!!!! Ebenezer Obey is alive and well.”
Obey revealed that he travelled to London for personal care and expressed displeasure over the false reports, which included fabricated images of coffins being circulated online.
“Everything they have said is nothing but lies that came from the kingdom of darkness. I am alive, I am alive, says the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you very much. I don’t have a stroke. I came to London to look after myself,” he said.
This is not the first time the veteran musician has had to counter such rumours.
Similar claims about his death surfaced in 2020 and resurfaced earlier this year.
