The 2 Eagles stars who must step up against S’Africa – Siasia

Quick Read

Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has named the two players who could decide Nigeria’s World Cup fate when they take on South Africa in today’s make-or-break qualifier in Bloemfontein.

Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has named the two players who could decide Nigeria’s World Cup fate when they take on South Africa in today’s make-or-break qualifier in Bloemfontein.

Siasia urged head coach Eric Chelle to put faith in Ademola Lookman’s dead-ball magic and Tolu Arokodare’s physical edge in attack if the Eagles are to stand a chance against Bafana Bafana.

Nigeria go into the clash after a slim 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo, where Arokodare came off the bench to snatch the winner. The result kept the Eagles within touching distance of the group leaders. Victory today would slash the gap to just three points.

But Siasia, speaking on SuperSport, warned the Eagles not to get carried away.

“We need to keep the ball, win free-kicks, and allow players like Lookman to make the difference. Arokodare can also be important in holding up play and creating chances,” he said.

He added that South Africa may be in their best form in over two decades, but they have always found Nigeria a difficult mountain to climb.
