Boxing legend Mike Tyson has disclosed that he used fentanyl ‘quite a few times’ at the peak of his career, a revelation that has sent shockwaves through the boxing world and reignited fears over his health as he prepares to fight Floyd Mayweather at 59.

Speaking on The Katie Miller Podcast, Tyson confessed he turned to the powerful opioid in the 1990s to ease pain in his toe, comparing its withdrawal effects to heroin.
“It was a painkiller, and I used it to patch up my toe. Once it wore off, you start throwing up, just like heroin,” Tyson said.

The confession reopens old wounds about Tyson’s well-documented battles with drugs, alcohol, and sex addiction. The former heavyweight champion previously admitted to taking marijuana and cocaine before stepping into the ring and once declared: “I was on the verge of dying because I was a vicious alcoholic.”

Now, despite claiming to be sober and leading a campaign to legalize marijuana across the U.S., Tyson’s decision to return to the ring has left fans horrified.

“Mike Tyson is gonna die in there,” one fan wrote on X. Another asked: “Who the f*** watched Tyson look half dead fighting Jake Paul and thought this was a good idea?”

Tyson, who lost a one-sided fight to YouTuber Jake Paul last year after an ulcer scare, is pressing ahead with plans for a money-spinning clash with Mayweather in 2026. But many believe the fight should never happen.

As the 59-year-old gears up for the comeback, his fentanyl confession has only amplified the chorus of warnings: Iron Mike is risking more than a loss, he’s risking his life.
