Under the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the youths in the State are given the very best in all ramifications through implementation of youth oriented policies and programmes.
Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende said this in his remarks at the “Voluntary Youth Organisations and Youth Focused NGOs Assembly” as part of the events marking Y2025 International Youth Day held at Adeyemi Bero auditorium today.
His words,” we appreciate the Voluntary Youth Organisations and Nongovernmental Organizations for their passion and dedication in the task of building our youths. We need to collaborate for this. The administration of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that we build the youths who think globally but act locally. This administration has prioritised youth development not in word but indeed by creating a level a favourable environment and level play field for all our youths to thrive.”
In his keynote address, the Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Shuaheeb Agoro represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Esv Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka said that the youth being the closest to the the grassroots have an indispensable role to play in helping the State Government in actualising the SDGs.
Mr. Agoro said, “the youth are uniquely positioned to actualise the SDGs. The state government is partnering other organizations to ensure we achieve this goal of giving our youth the best.”
Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm (Mrs) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the SDGs were designed to address issues affecting the youth which the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has aligned with through the THEMES plus Agenda that has special focus on the youth.
According to Pharm (Mrs) Oke-Osanyintolu , “the Ministry realises it cannot do it alone,hence we have decided to partner with Voluntary Youth Organisations and Nongovernmental Organizations who have been very supportive in this mission of moulding our youths into the ones we can all be proud of tomorrow.They are not just the leaders of tomorrow but our future into whom we are determined to invest our best.”
In his goodwill message, Chairman Conference 57 and Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, said that the celebration of the International Youth Day is a reaffirmation of the belief of the State Government that the future is in the hands of the youth who need training that would transform their lives, adding that the local government is not resting on its oars in the task of youth empowerment.
Speaking on behalf of the special dignitaries from Katsina State, Chairman,National Youth Council of Nigeria(Katsina State Chapter),Mr Yusuf Abubakar commended the youths in Lagos State for their resilience and tenacity, adding that there was need for states to work together collaboratively for youth development in Nigeria.
