Emotional scenes at burial of veteran actor Chief Kanran

Veteran Yoruba actor Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, has been laid to rest following his death on August 15, 2025.

The 70-year-old actor, remembered for his outstanding contributions to the Yoruba movie industry, was buried on Friday, September 12, at his home in Beckley Estate, Abule Egba, Lagos.

Although the cause of his death has not been made public, his passing has left many in the film industry deeply saddened.

Videos shared on CityPeopleTV’s Instagram page showed his body in a white coffin during the viewing. In one emotional moment, his elder sister broke down in tears when she saw his remains, before relatives and friends comforted her.

Fans across social media also mourned him, praying for the peaceful rest of his soul and for strength for his family.
