Josemaria Osuorah releases “The Modern Security Playbook”

Cybersecurity expert and thought leader, Josemaria Osuorah, has unveiled his latest work, The Modern Security Playbook, a detailed and practical guide addressing the evolving challenges of digital security in today’s interconnected world.

The book, which was officially released on April 21, 2025, is organized into ten chapters that blend both foundational principles and advanced topics.

The book introduces readers to the pillars of cybersecurity—confidentiality, integrity, and availability—before delving into critical issues such as malware, phishing, ransomware, insider threats, encryption, firewalls, endpoint protection, and cloud and IoT security. It also provides an in-depth look at regulatory frameworks including GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO 27001.

In its concluding chapters, The Modern Security Playbook turns its attention to future-focused subjects, including the role of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, blockchain applications for digital identity, and the risks and opportunities associated with the Metaverse and Web 3.0.

Osuorah explained that the inspiration for the book stemmed from his mentorship of young technologists and his grassroots awareness initiatives through the Secure Mentorship Program.

According to him, many learners and professionals sought a resource that balanced technical explanations with practical applications. The book, therefore, was designed to be accessible for students while offering the depth needed by academics and industry experts.

This latest release follows Osuorah’s earlier work, Cybersecurity Fundamentals, which has been widely adopted across Africa as an introductory text. Together, the two books form a robust body of literature that supports both entry-level learners and advanced practitioners in the cybersecurity field.

Speaking at the launch, Osuorah said: “The threats we face are constantly evolving, and I wanted to create a single resource that professionals, students, and organizations could rely on. This book is meant to serve as both a reference point and a teaching tool.”

With The Modern Security Playbook, Osuorah contributes a significant addition to the global library of cybersecurity knowledge, offering insights that are expected to become a standard reference for universities, training programs, and professionals worldwide.
