Young British actor Owen Cooper has been crowned as the youngest male actor to ever win an Emmy Award.
The actor who starred in Netflix’s drama Adolescence, was named as the best supporting actor in a limited series . Owen portrayed the role of a schoolboy who was accused of murdering a classmate in the movie and he described the experience as ‘surreal’.
“Standing up here is just, wow, it’s just so surreal. I think tonight proves if you listen, and you focus and you step out your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life. Who cares if you get embarrassed? Anything can be possible. I was nothing about three years ago, I’m here now,” he said in his speech.
Owen also thanked his co-stars and the production team, stating that they are deserving of the recognition and accolades.
“It may have my name on this award, but it really belongs to the people behind the camera.”
