Nigerian musician, Don Igwe, has stirred controversy online following his remarks about men who empower their wives financially.
Speaking during a recent podcast, Igwe claimed that men begin to face problems the day they set up businesses for their wives or girlfriends.
He said:
“Your problem starts as a man the day you open a business for your wife or girlfriend. The day you empower your wife, that is the day your problem starts.”
The singer went further to express distrust in women, narrating a story of a couple who had been married for 50 years. According to him, the husband later discovered through a DNA test that only their last child was biologically his.
“I have seen a couple that stayed 50 years in marriage. On the 50th year, the man did a DNA test and found out that only the last daughter was his. This was a Christian woman, someone you could vouch for,” he added.
Igwe also criticized married women who still use their maiden names, saying:
“You are not married. You belong to your father’s house. Let that your father you are answering his name, marry you.”
