Remo Stars of Ikenne began their CAF Champions League campaign in emphatic fashion on Sunday, cruising to a 4–0 victory over Zilmadjou of Comoros at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.
The Sky Blue Stars took control early, with Leonard Ngenge breaking the deadlock in the 12th minute after latching onto a teammate’s pass to slot home the opener.
The hosts doubled their advantage just before halftime, when Chigozie Shileku connected with a set-piece delivery to make it 2–0.
Malian international, Adama Goita, extended the lead midway through the second half, calmly finishing in the 68th minute to put the tie beyond the visitors.
Substitute Samson Olasupo completed the rout with a well-taken effort late in the game, sealing a convincing 4–0 win for the Nigerian side.
The result puts Remo Stars in a commanding position ahead of the second leg next week in Abeokuta, as they look to progress to the next round of Africa’s elite club competition.
