The Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF) has launched the fifth edition of its annual youth campaign, WeNaija 5.0, with the theme “Own Your Choice.” The initiative, which will run from September 8 to November 8, 2025, focuses on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and the dangers of incomplete or abstinence-only sex education among young Nigerians.

Speaking at the launch, NSSF Managing Director, Dr. Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko, said the campaign seeks to empower young people with accurate, judgment-free information about their bodies, rights, and health options.

“WeNaija 5.0 is about moving beyond silence and stigma to evidence, empathy, and empowerment, so that the next generation can truly own their choices and their futures,” she said.

The campaign comes against the backdrop of rising adolescent pregnancy rates, unsafe abortions, and sexually transmitted infections, which experts link to gaps in SRH education and access to youth-friendly health services.

NSSF explained that this year’s edition will mobilise young people aged 18 to 35 to create two to three-minute videos that explain the importance of comprehensive SRH education, highlight the consequences of incomplete education, and share youth-led solutions for more effective delivery. Entries are to be uploaded on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok with the hashtag #OwnYourChoice, tagging WeNaija_byNSSF.

The campaign will culminate in the WeNaija YouthFest & Winners’ Showcase on December 6, 2025, which will feature policy dialogues, expert panels, and creative showcases designed to advance youth-friendly SRH services and advocacy.

Dr. Chinye-Nwoko said NSSF’s broader goal is to “bring clarity where there’s confusion, bring care where there’s judgment, and bring youth to the table where decisions about their health are made.”

Now in its fifth year, WeNaija has previously spotlighted public health issues such as COVID-19, HPV vaccination, and drug abuse, using creative storytelling to spark dialogue and influence policy.
