Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the child, identified as Chimaobi Nwadike, was taken by an unidentified woman while in the custody of his mother on September 26.
“The Anambra State Police Command seeks the assistance of the public, especially residents of Anambra State, regarding this case of child stealing. Anyone with useful information about the child or the suspect should report to the nearest police station or call the command’s emergency numbers,” the statement read.
In a separate incident last week, the police arrested Okwuchukwu Ezimuo, 45, for allegedly stabbing his relative, 65-year-old Joseph Dike, to death over a family land dispute in Umunocha Village, Awka-Etiti, Idemili South LGA.
SP Ikenga said Ezimuo struck Dike on the chest during a quarrel over the land.
