Lagos Cult Clash: One killed, five nabbed in swift police operation

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that one person died and five people were arrested after a violent fight broke out between two rival cult groups in the Onireke and Isashi areas of Badagry, Lagos State.
According to the police, the fight happened around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Officers quickly went to the scene after getting a distress call from residents who reported the violence.
During the operation, the police recovered several dangerous weapons, including a locally made pistol, two pump-action guns, 52 live bullets, two used cartridges, a Toyota Avalon car (registration number KTU 610 JB), a laptop, and several mobile phones.
The police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said in a statement on Sunday that the suspects, who are between 28 and 43 years old, were arrested during a swift and coordinated operation. She said the quick action of the police helped to stop the violence and bring calm back to the area.
She explained that three people who were injured in the clash were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment, but sadly, one of them was confirmed dead by doctors at the Badagry General Hospital.
Adebisi added that five suspects believed to have taken part in the attack are now in police custody and will be charged to court after investigations are completed. She also said efforts are ongoing to track down other cult members who escaped during the operation.
Meanwhile, more police patrols and surveillance have been deployed to Onireke and Isashi to prevent another clash.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the police officers for their professionalism and quick response.
He assured residents that the command remains determined to wipe out cultism and other violent crimes from the state.
He urged members of the public to be alert, obey the law, and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.
