Osun Govt To Employ 12 Lawyers

The Osun State Government is to employ 12 more lawyers to complement the services of its 28 counsel.

Mr. Adewale Afolabi, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, told newsmen on Friday in Osogbo that the Ministry of Justice needed more lawyers in its Department of Public Defender and Citizen’s Rights to assist indigent people in litigations.

“Besides the duty of lawyers as state counsel, they also render free legal services to the poor who cannot afford to hire them.”

Afolabi also stressed the need for more magistrates, saying that no fewer than 18 vacancies had yet to be filled.

He said the ministry had started compiling a list of applicants to be appointed in order to facilitate quick dispensation of justice.
