Police operatives have arrested a 22-year-old man identified as Chiemerie Udeh, a suspected armed robber and cultist in Ukpomili- Ifitedunu Road, Dunukofia Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.
He was arrested along Ukpomili–Ifitedunu Road, Dunukofia LGA when a police patrol team intercepted his vehicle.
A search of the vehicle led led to the recovery of locally made pistol and five rounds of live ammunition, Anambra Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement in Awka on Friday.
“Operatives of the Police Command in Anambra attached to the Special Anti Cultism Squad Enugu Ukwu on the evening of Oct. 16, while on patrol along Ukpomili–Ifitedunu Road, Dunukofia LGA intercepted a black-coloured Lexus car with registration number RSH 613 AZ, driven by one Chiemerie Udeh, 22-year-old.

“Upon a thorough search of the vehicle and the suspect, the operatives recovered one locally made pistol and five rounds of live ammunition,” he said.

According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle may have been stolen and was en route for a planned rivalry cult attack.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Ikioye Orutugu as commending the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism.
Orutugu reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the tempo against cultism and violent crimes across the state.
