#JusticeforOchanya: Aisha Yesufu backs Sen. Natasha’s call for justice

Nigerian socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu has backed Sen. Natasha’s call for justice over the case of late Ochanya Ogbanje.

Aisha, on her X handle on Thursday, expressed her sadness over the case, while emphasising her readiness to fight for justice.

She revealed that she was vocal when the case of the13-year-old girl was reported. Aisha also expressed her relief and excitement over the new call for justice by young Nigerians. She commended them for using their voice and platforms to speak against injustice.

“I am in pain as I write this. Ochanya will forever remind me of my failures as a Nigerian adult. I failed her and many others. As I write this I have a lump on my chest that hurts so badly. When the issue broke so many years ago we carried it even though we couldn’t save her. We didn’t protect her and prevent the pain her family has had to live with. Do you know what makes me elated in spite of the harrowing story? It is young Nigerians like you who have their voices and agencies and speak on the injustices. I have said in many interviews that many Nigerians especially the youth now own their voices and using their voices and that even without my voice, many issues are heard much louder than I could ever make them,” she wrote.
