“This industry is already a lonely place. I’m not about to live my actual life lonely,” Yemi said, smiling as she confirmed her desire to settle down.

Self-acclaimed Mama Africa, Yemi Alade has opened up about her personal life and career journey, revealing her plans to get married soon, but in her own unique way.

Speaking in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the My Padi crooner said she dreams of having a private wedding “on one coded island like that,” hinting that she’s ready to take the next big step in her life.

“This industry is already a lonely place. I’m not about to live my actual life lonely,” Yemi said, smiling as she confirmed her desire to settle down.

The award-winning singer also reflected on her rise to fame, sharing how she built her Mama Africa brand without waiting for anyone to “pass her the baton.”

“I didn’t need the stars ahead of me to hand me a baton. I made my own lane. There’s space for me,” she said confidently.

Yemi Alade also revealed that her early days in music were far from glamorous, as she performed in over 300 free shows to build her name and gain experience.

“I didn’t do the norm. Word on the street says you have to have one Western collaboration like that before you blow, but I didn’t,” she added.

Known for her powerful voice, cultural pride, and electrifying performances across Africa and beyond, Yemi Alade has carved a unique space for herself in the global music scene.
