How Fashola Rescued Me —Community Leader
The chairman of Ikeja Community Development Committee and Ogunbiyi Community Development Association, Computer Village, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Mr. Adegunwa Osinubi, has expressed appreciation to the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, for his moral and financial support to him when he was admitted at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH.
He said he was admitted at the hospital between May and October this year for the treatment of collapse of the rectum and had to undergo two major surgeries before he was discharged.
Osinubi during his thanksgiving service at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church, Ikeja, showered encomiums on the governor, his Chief of Staff and the management and staff of LASUTH.
“I thank the governor for his quick response to my plight when I was admitted at LASUTH for collapse of the rectum. He wasted no time immediately he was briefed about my admission at the hospital and both his moral and financial gestures really marvelled me.
“Because of the governor, the doctors gave me prompt attention. It is only the money that matters but the interest shown by the governor and the fact that he came to my rescue is enough testimony,” he said.
He urged the people not to see community service as free, adding that there are some benefits inherent in it.
“I will like to use this medium to correct the notion that there is no gain in community service. Though it is free, there are some benefits inherent in it. Fashola did not know me as a politician but it was all because I am a community leader who is interested in seeing my community grow,” he said
