Incumbent Governor Charles Soludo, running for a second term under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has won decisively in his polling unit in the ongoing Anambra State governorship election.
Soludo cast his vote at Polling Unit 002, Ofiyi Square, Isuofia Ward in Aguata Local Government Area, where he garnered 417 votes, comfortably defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, who scored 4 votes, and the ACCORD Party candidate, who received 1 vote.
Out of 933 registered voters in the unit, 430 were accredited, with 422 votes counted as valid and 8 rejected ballots.
The votes were tallied by the INEC presiding officer at the polling unit.
The voting process was disrupted towards the end of the poll when the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) malfunctioned, prompting an abrupt halt to further voting.
Some voters were unable to cast their ballots due to the technical issue, leaving a few disappointed.
Despite the minor disruption, Soludo’s commanding performance in his home polling unit underscores his strong local support as collation continues across the state.
Observers note that the results from individual polling units, while indicative of localized support, are part of a much broader electoral picture as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) works to complete the full tally for all 21 local government areas.
