World Cup Playoffs: SuperSport set to beam Nigeria Vs Gabon live to Nigerians

Quick Read

other semifinal, DR Congo’s disciplined side under coach Sébastien Desabre will clash with a determined Cameroon team known for its resilience despite recent off-field controversies

The Super Eagles will begin their campaign in the CAF World Cup play-offs against Gabon today, while DR Congo faces Cameroon in the second semifinal.

The mini-tournament, taking place in Morocco, will determine which team advances to the intercontinental playoffs in Mexico next March.

Both matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport Africa 1 (GOtv Channel 63, DStv Channel 207). Nigeria will take on Gabon at 5:00 p.m., followed by DR Congo versus Cameroon at 8:00 p.m.

For Nigeria, the stakes are high. A late resurgence highlighted by Victor Osimhen’s hat-trick in a 4–0 win over Benin secured qualification on goal difference.

The Super Eagles, six-time World Cup participants, are eager to reclaim their place among football’s elite after missing the Qatar 2022 edition. Coach Eric Chelle is relying on Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi to lead the charge.

Gabon, led by captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, may be considered underdogs but remain a serious threat. Their strong performances during the qualifiers make them capable of springing a surprise if Nigeria falters.

In the other semifinal, DR Congo’s disciplined side under coach Sébastien Desabre will clash with a determined Cameroon team known for its resilience despite recent off-field controversies.

The winners of Thursday’s semifinals will meet in the final on Sunday in Rabat.

The victor will earn a spot in the intercontinental playoff Africa’s last chance to secure a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
