Osifeso urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency

The Oyo State Police Command has assured delegates of strong security at the ongoing national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), holding Saturday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Adewale Osifeso, said police and other security agencies have intensified operations to ensure a safe and peaceful exercise.

He noted that the convention is expected to draw top political leaders, international observers, media representatives, and participants from across Nigeria.

According to Osifeso, a comprehensive security plan has been activated, including proactive patrols to boost public confidence, increased surveillance, and intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations across the state.

He added that security will be particularly tight at key entry and exit points in Oyo State, especially around the convention venue.

He also said that major public spaces such as parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan will be closely watched throughout the event.

The police advised residents to use alternative routes around the stadium to avoid traffic disruptions. They also warned against unauthorised rallies or gatherings before, during, or after the convention.

Osifeso urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
