Supporters of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who believe he should return to lead Nigeria again, created a buzz on Saturday at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The group arrived at the convention ground carrying large flags and banners with Jonathan’s picture.

They also promoted Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, suggesting he should be Jonathan’s running mate in the 2027 presidential election. Their presence drew a lot of attention as they moved around the venue chanting solidarity songs.

Rumours about Jonathan’s possible comeback have been circulating for months.

Even though the former president has not made any public statement, some of his close allies have hinted that he is seriously considering entering the race.

They claim he is watching the political atmosphere and may make an official declaration soon.

On Friday, posters of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, were also seen at the stadium, adding to the growing speculation about who might emerge as key figures ahead of the next general election.
