Tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepened on Monday as the faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, moved to convene emergency meetings of two of the party’s most influential organs.
In a notice circulated by the group’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and amplified online by Lere Olayinka, media aide to the FCT Minister, the faction declared that both the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) would meet on Tuesday, 18 November, at the PDP’s national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

Already, sevearal topshots in Wike’s camp, including the FCT Minister himself, Samuel Anyanwu, Ayodele Fayose. Kamaldeen Ajibade, Austin Nwachukwu and several others, were expelled at the national convention of the other faction of the party held in Ibadan on Saturday, following a motion moved by Chief Olabode George.
That PDP faction also went ahead to elect KabiruTurakias its national chairman.
