Many lawmakers in the Taraba State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have abandoned the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Those who crossed over include the Speaker, John Kizito, who announced the individual notices submitted by the defecting legislators, each declaring their intention to quit the PDP and align themselves with the APC. The lawmakers who defected were said to be 16 in number
The lawmakers cited the lingering turmoil within the PDP at the national level and the desire to position the state for stronger engagement with the Federal Government as the key reasons for their move.
Their decision comes ahead of Governor Agbu Kefas’s expected formal entry into the APC scheduled for Wednesday, 19 November 2025.
