Singer Jaywon has reopened the conversation around insecurity in Nigeria, revealing he was once slammed with a N100 million lawsuit simply for speaking up.

The This Year crooner shared his frustration on Wednesday after reacting to a fresh attack by suspected bandits on a church in Eruku, Kwara State.

In an Instagram post, Jaywon uploaded a photo of the court document filed against him earlier in the year, saying he had paid a heavy price for using his platform to raise awareness.

He wrote:
“On May 25th, 2025, I was sued for raising awareness about this same insecurity… just for using my platform to speak for our people.”

Residents say Kwara, once considered one of the more peaceful states, has witnessed a troubling rise in kidnappings and bandit attacks in recent months.

Jaywon, who hails from neighbouring Kogi State, noted that Eruku is just 15 minutes from Egbe—an area he calls home—making the latest attack feel “too close for comfort.”

Fans have since flooded his comment section, expressing shock and questioning why an artiste should be dragged to court for speaking about insecurity affecting citizens.
