Nigerian actor Taye Arimoro has taken legal action against popular actress and producer Peggy Ovire, demanding a public apology and ₦100 million in damages over an alleged assault that reportedly occurred on a movie set earlier this month.

According to a letter dated November 18, 2025, issued by Inibehe Effiong Chambers, Arimoro claimed that his fundamental rights were violated after an incident that unfolded shortly after his contract ended at exactly 11:59 PM on November 11.

Arimoro alleged that when he attempted to leave the set, the production manager blocked his vehicle, while another car obstructed the exit route. Fearing for his safety, he said he immediately went live on Instagram after receiving threats.

The situation reportedly worsened at the estate gate, where Peggy Ovire and others allegedly confronted him. The legal letter states that Arimoro’s tyres were deflated and he was surrounded by several people.

The actor further claimed he was physically assaulted, suffering a fractured mandible, bite marks, bruises, and other injuries. His phone was also allegedly tampered with during the altercation.

Arimoro’s legal team argued that the confrontation violated his rights to personal liberty, freedom of movement, dignity, and peaceful work conditions. They also cited emotional distress and loss of earnings.

They are demanding:

  • A public video apology from Peggy Ovire on all her social media platform.
  • ₦100 million in compensation

Peggy Ovire has been given seven days to respond.
