“All principals and proprietors are therefore instructed to ensure that their students return home without delay,” she added.

Amid growing security concerns across Nigeria, the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has ordered all public and private secondary schools in the state to shut their hostels and operate strictly as day schools until further notice.

The directive, announced by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Augustina Godwin, follows the government’s assessment that boarding facilities have become increasingly vulnerable to attacks, especially after the recent abductions recorded in Kebbi and Niger States.

Dr Godwin said the state was acting out of caution, noting that criminal groups now appear to target residential school facilities.
“In view of the current insecurity across the country, His Excellency has directed that boarding activities be suspended in every secondary school in Taraba State with immediate effect,” she said.

“All principals and proprietors are therefore instructed to ensure that their students return home without delay,” she added.
