The Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Electoral Committee for Osun State, Sunday Solarin, has explained why Governor Ademola Adeleke’s name still appeared on the ballot for Tuesday’s governorship primary despite his resignation from the party.

The Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Electoral Committee for Osun State, Sunday Solarin, has explained why Governor Ademola Adeleke’s name still appeared on the ballot for Tuesday’s governorship primary despite his resignation from the party.

Solarin said Adeleke announced his exit from the PDP late on Monday night, at a time when the ballot papers had already been printed and could no longer be adjusted.

“There are two aspirants on the ballot, but one of them, Governor Ademola Adeleke, resigned from the party late on Monday and we couldn’t amend the ballot,” he told reporters in Osogbo.

He noted that although Adeleke’s name remained on the document, only Adebayo Adedamola is now recognized as the party’s valid aspirant.

“So, as you prepare to vote, bear in mind that only Adebayo Adedamola remains the PDP aspirant, as his opponent has resigned from the party,” he said.

As of press time, delegates had concluded voting, and officials had begun collating results pending the formal announcement.
