Bonaventure Phillips Melah, Founder/CEO, FGWRC, in a statement made available to newsmen, said Christopher Musa is so far, the most popular and acceptable nomination President Tinubu has made since he assumed office in 2023 and urged the Senate to confirm the appointment without delay by asking the nominee to ‘Take a Bow.’
Melah said the social media has been on fire with excitement and jubilation since the news of Musa’s nomination was made public by Bato Onanuga, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategic Information.
He said the wide acceptance of Christpher Musa cut across all political, ethnic and religious divides which he said was a testimony that FGWRC was right when it honoured the former CDS as ‘Shield of the Nation’ on September 30th 2025, few days before he left military service.
The statement reads in part- “It is with the highest sense of patriotism and pride in Nigeria, that we received the news of the nomination of General Christopher Gwabim Musa, OFR (rtd), former Chief of Defence Staff, for the position of Minister of Defence by His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR.
“The nomination of General Musa is a testimony that President Tinubu is serious on his pledge to root out terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and all forms of criminalities across all communities in the country.
“There is no doubt that Christopher Musa distinguished himself in the service of our fatherland, Nigeria, especially while he was the Chef of Defence Staff. His patriotism, commitment and dedication to duty were not in doubt as they could be read on his face anytime he addressed issues of insecurity in the country.
“Apart from his patriotism, commitment and bravery, Musa ensured healthy working relationship with other Service Chiefs as well as constant synergy between the armed forces and the Office of the NSA, IG of Police, DSS and other similar sister agencies while also applying diplomatic soldering throughout his tenure as CDS.
“It was for the above reasons that he was nominated him for ‘Shield of the Nation’ Award, which we honoured him with, a few days before his exit from active military service.
“However, his nomination by the President for a higher to serve our fatherland, this time, as Minister of Defence, is a shouting testimony that we were bright after all.
“It is on that note that we sincerely commend His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu for listening to the voice of Nigerians by nominating General Christopher Musa (rtd) to serve as Minister of Defence.
“We also seize this opportunity to call on the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, led by His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, to confirm Gen. Musa’s nomination without unnecessary delay. In view of his distinguished past service records and the wide acceptance his nomination has received across the country, we urge the Senate to ask General Christopher Musa, OFR, to ‘take a bow,’ Melah concluded,
