Senate President Godswill Akpabio has stressed that Nigeria must not fail in the ongoing battle against insecurity, insisting that the safety and stability of the nation depend on it.
Akpabio made this statement on Wednesday during the ministerial screening of former Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, who was nominated for the position of Defence Minister. He said the country has reached a point where victory over insecurity is not just important but absolutely necessary.
According to him, just as the world was able to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic with God’s help, Nigeria can also overcome the security challenges that have troubled many communities across the nation. He encouraged the government, security agencies, and citizens to stay focused on the goal of restoring peace.
Akpabio noted that Nigeria must not allow fear, conspiracies, or distractions to deter the fight. Instead, he emphasized unity, determination, and the need to support all efforts aimed at improving national security.
His words:
“If God helped the world defeat COVID-19, then we can also defeat insecurity. We will win this war. We are not focusing on collaborators or conspiracies or enemies; we just want to win. We must win this war so we can leave a better country for future generations.”
He added that the nation owes it to young people and generations yet to come to ensure that Nigeria becomes a safer, stronger, and more secure place to live.
