The Kwara State Government said police operatives have intercepted as arms courier with 100 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed among personal effects in a vehicle along Gbugbu/Patigi road in the state.

The live AK-47 ammunition rounds were concealed among personal effects of the suspects along with various charms in the vehicle with four other occupants, the state government said.

It added that the vehicle driven by Owolaramfe Rafiu had four other occupants; Musa Mohammed, Adam Alhaji Lawal, and Musa Shaibu who have all been arrested.

The State Government added that coordinated effort is underway to identify and apprehend the intended receiver of the ammunition while the suspects are in custody of the police.

The vehicle was intercepted at about 07:30 hrs on Friday during a routine stop and search operation along Gbugbu/Patigi road.

The arrest of arms courier came barely 24 hours after a medical doctor was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services for transporting medical supplies from Sokoto State to kidnapping gangs operating in Kwara State.
