Operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics, SWAT, unit of the Nigeria Police, Lagos Command, have arrested 51-year-old Ndubushi Enebe for allegedly breaking into a property at 42 Iwaya Road, Yaba, and stealing items worth N1.39 million.

Enebe is accused of acting with accomplices still at large to forcefully enter the building owned by Alhaja Sekinat Onikoyi, damaging burglary doors valued at N500,000 before allegedly carting away property worth N1.39 million — a combined loss of N1.89 million.

According to police investigators, the complainant discovered the damage during an inspection visit and immediately petitioned the Inspector General of Police.

The case was subsequently assigned to the SWAT unit under the Deputy Commissioner of Police for thorough investigation.

Following inquiries led by CPL Oparago Infesinachi, the suspect was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, on a five-count charge, including forceful entry, malicious damage, stealing, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Police prosecutor Inspector Reuben Solomon told the court that the alleged offences occurred on 9 March 2025 and were part of an attempt by the defendant to take over the property unlawfully.

He noted that the charges fall under Sections 411, 52, 340, 280(5), and 56 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Enebe pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate N. Oseni Wahab granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum and ordered his remand at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned to 4 December 2025 for mention.
