A startup business book that adopts an integration of psychological and sociological tactics to demystify the tricks of overcoming capital insufficiency mostly experienced by intending startup entrepreneurs has been released.

The courage enabling book, published by one of the youngest writers Nigeria has produced, Lukman Oriyomi Hassan, guides aspiring entrepreneurs on how to achieve psychological improvement and eventual economic empowerment.

Chapter 1 introduces how important it is to know oneself- a psychological & sociological perspective. It emphasises the importance of recognising one’s resources, which could be material or non-material. Material resources as revealed in the book include cash at hand, bank balances and possessions while non-material resources include connections/networking, creativity, leadership qualities, judgment evaluation and communication. The essence of the chapter is to help readers discover their strengths and weaknesses as they proceed to economic interactions in the management of the resources to optimise decision making.

Chapter 2 introduces a psychological and sociological framework with the ‘world’ in context – A world of interest. The chapter exposes how self-interest is the factor driving every socioeconomic interaction and thereby promotes the subtle art of indirectly requesting for favors by putting an offer forward, to seem like a mutual beneficial exchange. This is echoed by the fact that, people usually accord more importance to those who have something to offer than those who merely ask. A super efficacious concept known as THE BAIT is introduced in this chapter, conveying how to strategically reach out to target persons intended for business interactions, especially those you do not have a close relationship with.

Wrapping up the chapter, a wonderful subtopic, CONSTRUCTIVE REQUEST, is introduced, to further expose readers to the art of skillfully dishing out requests and having them honored, in the interest driven world we all occupy.

Chapter 3, referred to as the INTERLUDE, emphasises how capital, though essential throughout the life cycle of every business, is not the actual problem. It explains CAPITAL ESCAPES in a most understandable manner. It emphasises that however financially depressed the intending entrepreneur is – from little to no financial strength, there’s a way forward. It extensively discusses the veiled/hidden agenda underlying employment.

Chapter 4, tagged The Climax, progressively explains the earliest phase of conceiving a business idea, therein referred to as the Business Gestation, advancing into transforming the idea into a working business (Business Cradle). It exposes readers to easier ways of creating unique business ideas, and how the uniqueness can be harnessed towards positioning one’s brand steps ahead of competitors. The brief but apt analysis of business idea versus business opportunity will prove valuable to aspiring startup entrepreneurs.

The introduction of the newly developed concept of OOF (Order of Feasibility) addressing the issue of conflicting skills/ talent/ business ideas, referred to as Tornado of Ideas, is topnotch.

Topics such as brand naming, decisions on quality & pricing, decisions on grades of goods/services, decisions on events, characteristics of goods/services and the business cradle guides are highlighted. The intrigues of hidden traits in communication, prioritisation & channeling of resources and wrap up (chill phase) are painstakingly discussed. The chill phase is the realistic timeframe most startup entrepreneurs are likely to experience after implementing the beautiful, well designed, well executed business plan, and are at an unforeseen or foreseen halt or pause that’s necessary before moving on to the next phase. The discussion on conversion of this phase to optimisation is worth every detail.

In general, the metamorphosis of the chapters is such that the next chapter excites the more than the previous, and the previous contains pre-requisite information essential to the buildup of the current chapter.
