The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has revealed why he stopped having female secretaries.
The 83-years-old pastor, in a sermon, revealed that he was concerned about the possibilities of being alone in the office with a lady, while on late-night duties.
He further explained that his decision was not intended to be a form of discrimination against women, but as a personal protection. He lauded his previous female secretary for being a Godly and hardworking young woman, but he noted the need for his decision.
“From the moment I got to a stage where at night I still have to work, I cease to have a female secretary. Some people think it is gender discrimination. I know myself. I know who I was before Jesus saved my soul. I know the possibility of dangers, being left alone. At night, with people of the opposite sex. Oh, but if you were to get a secretary like the last one I had, she was a wonderful child of God. She saved a very wonderful child of God. She was my secretary at Ebute Meta. Wonderful lady. True child of the living God,” he stated.
E.A. Adeboye also painted a scenario where he was alone with a female secretary late at night, emphasising the reason behind his decision to stick with male secretaries.
“And when I got here, I know I will see you in the office at 3 a.m. Now can we imagine, after a long day work, everybody finally we have seen the last visitor. And then my secretary comes and says, At 2 a.m., we are through now, sir. Is there any way I can help you? You know, a cup of tea to relax. At 2 a.m…,” he added.
