Former Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Kayode Oladele, popularly known as Kaybobo, has opened up about how his mother initially opposed his passion for basketball until his coach intervened.

Kaybobo made the revelation while addressing members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti State chapter in Ado-Ekiti, where he also reaffirmed his commitment to developing sports in the state through the Kaybobo Youth Foundation.

The reality TV star, who hails from Ado-Ekiti, recalled playing basketball for Christ School and All Souls Secondary School, a journey that eventually brought him international exposure.

According to him, his coach, Tayo Awojurin, played a major role in shaping his athletic journey and convincing his mother not to stop him from pursuing sports.

“My mummy did not want me to play basketball then. It was through the intervention of Coach Awojurin that convinced her. If not, I would not have reached the level I am today,” he said.

Kaybobo noted that his decision to set up a youth foundation stems from his desire to give back to his community and help talented Ekiti youths become professional athletes and creative professionals.

He also disclosed plans to expand into fashion, entertainment, tourism, and arts as part of his mission to promote talent development in Ekiti.

During the event, Kaybobo gifted 20 customized caps to SWAN members and assured them of continuous partnership in promoting sports in the state.
