UEFA Champions League: Five clubs book knockout tickets after dramatic matchday 6

At least five teams have now qualified for the Round of 16 in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

UEFA confirmed this on its official website on Wednesday night.

Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Atalanta are the latest clubs to book their spots in either the Round of 16 or the knockout play-offs. Their qualification came after the Matchday 6 games played on Wednesday.

These three teams join Arsenal and Bayern Munich, who had already secured their places in the next round.

According to the competition format, the top eight teams overall will go straight into the Round of 16. Teams that finish between 9th and 24th will compete in the knockout play-offs, and winners from those games will advance to the Round of 16.

In total, only 24 teams will qualify for the Champions League knockout phase this season.
