“Every need will be taken care of,” Fubara vows after registration as APC member

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, formalized his defection from All Progressives Congress, APC to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Friday as he received the membership card of his new party.
Fubara who had earlier in the week announced that he is abandoning the PDP received the membership card from the APC Chairman in Rivers, Chief Tony Okocha at Government’s House in Port Harcourt.
Okocha formally registered Fubara as a member of APC and gave him the party’s membership card at the event witnessed by other leaders of the party in the state and the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo who is in Rivers for the commissioning of a road project.
Speaking the event, Fubara affirmed that he decided to join the APC to align Rivers State with President Bola Tinubu’s political direction.
Fubara, who spoke before leaders of APC added that he decided to join APC to able to fully the re-election of President Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Fubara described the step as “spiritual assignment,” as he noted that being a part of APC would enable Rivers, under his direction, to maintain a productive relationship with Tinubu.
“As you have said, this is indeed a spiritual assignment because it concerns the safety, progress, and growth of Rivers State.

“We cannot pursue a different direction when the President is pursuing another.
“Joining the APC is part of our commitment to ensure a seamless working relationship and to contribute meaningfully to his reelection efforts in Rivers State,” he said.
Fubara also assured that he will do whatever is possible to strengthen the support base of APC across Rivers State.
“This is now your home, Mr Chairman. You are welcome here anytime. We will keep the APC active and fully functional in Rivers State, and every need of the party will be taken care of,” Governor Fubara affirmed.
Governor Fubara had last Tuesday announced his defection from the PDP to the APC.
He said his decision to join the APC was not to fulfill his personal ambition, but intended to achieve peace in the state and ensure steady progress.
Fubara had also asked his supporters to hun divisive politics, and stand by both the President and the state government.
