The honour was bestowed during the AWLO 16th Anniversary Induction, End-of-Year Lecture and Partners Awards Dinner, held at the Four Points by Sheraton, Ikot Ekpene, in the culturally rich Raffia City of Akwa Ibom State.
The African Woman of Worth Award recognises exceptional African women whose leadership, service, and integrity have created measurable impact across communities. Dr. Alban was celebrated for her outstanding contributions to hunger eradication, women’s empowerment, child nutrition, and sustainable food systems, particularly through EHHI’s community-based interventions that feed vulnerable children while economically empowering women.
Her induction as a Patroness of AWLO reflects the organisation’s confidence in her leadership, advocacy, and commitment to advancing women’s participation in governance, development, and economic transformation across Africa.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Alban expressed gratitude to AWLO for the recognition, noting that the award affirms the collective efforts of women and partners working tirelessly to build dignified livelihoods and food-secure communities.
The anniversary celebration also spotlighted outstanding male allies through the AWLO HeForShe Champions of the Year 2025 Awards, recognising men who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing gender equality and inclusive leadership. The recognition reinforces AWLO’s belief that sustainable progress is achieved through partnership and shared responsibility.
The event brought together AWLONIANS, development partners, policymakers, private sector leaders, and civil society actors from across Africa and beyond, further strengthening AWLO’s growing influence as a platform for transformative leadership.
