“I don’t want to talk about the Oba’s Cup,†said the football administrator studied Law at the Lagos State University, LASU. “What really concerns me is how to move my LDFA forward and be a force to reckon with in Lagos State. My dream is to have a football tournament solely owned by the LDFA but forcefully powered by the private sector. There is plan to have Idejo Cup. Idejo are the white cap chiefs and I think it is befitting to have a tournament to honour them,†he said.
Prince Oyekan also disclosed that the LDFA plans to make all holidays of the school children a busy period. According to him, plans are underway to organise clinics during the holidays for the students. He said that the clinic will also see these student being camped in order to have easy concentration.
“We’ll get ex footballers to talk to these students and get teachers to take them on academic works. It would be a worthwhile experience for these students and by the time will kick off this project it would be an annual event,†he said.
The LDFA boss also disclosed that his association is planning to institute an annual award of excellence to deserving players, coaches, referees and organisers who have made a mark and contribute to the progress of the Division very soon.
“We need to celebrate good and hardwork among our players and other stakeholders who have distinguished themselves in our society. We may decide to build a borehole and name it after one of our best players for the year.
“We’ll embark on a project and name it after any of the awardees. This would live after them and it will also last long than even giving out money. My plan is to give every stakeholder a sense of belonging for them to be motivated to give their all for the LDFA,†said Prince Oyekan.
