Ajayi, Gowon’s aide, reacts to rumours of elder statesman death

The Personal Assistant to the former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd.), Adeyeye Ajayi, has reacted to the rumours claiming that Gowon is dead.

The media aide, in a statement, regarded such reports as fake and misleading. He also verified the state of Gen. Gowon’s health, stressing that he is alive and well.

“The claims making the rounds on social media about the death of General Yakubu Gowon are completely false and misleading. There is no truth whatsoever in the reports. The former military leader continues to live an active and purposeful life,” the statement read.

Ajayi also noted that the General has been attending public events and contributing to discussions about the state of the nation. He urged the public hto verify reports before sharing so as not to cause distress and false alarm.

“General Gowon is alive, in good health, and remains active. He continues to attend public events and contribute to discussions on peace, unity, and the development of Nigeria,” he added.
