Big Brother Naija star, Queen Mercy Atang, has expressed deep gratitude after she and members of her family narrowly escaped a tragic accident following the collapse of the POP ceiling in her living room.
Sharing a video of the incident on social media, Queen revealed that her younger sister and nanny were in the living room sewing when the POP ceiling suddenly collapsed, forcing them to run for their lives.
According to the reality TV star, she was asleep at the time of the incident and only became aware after her mother rushed into her room to inform her of what had happened.
Queen said she was initially terrified but felt immediate relief when she confirmed that her sister and nanny were unharmed.
She further disclosed that this was not the first incident, as her garage POP ceiling had collapsed just a few weeks earlier, raising concerns about the safety of the building.
Recounting the events of the night, Queen explained that she had returned home around 4 a.m. after picking up a friend from the airport, who had arrived in Nigeria for a Guinness World Record project she is coordinating. Due to safety concerns, she persuaded one of her workers to stay overnight rather than leave in the early hours.
By morning, the worker had left, while her younger sister and nanny remained awake sewing in the living room, a decision that ultimately saved them, as they usually sleep there after working through the night.
“They were still sewing when the POP ceiling fell. They literally had to run for their lives,” Queen wrote.
She added that she is currently under pressure coordinating the Guinness World Record project while also making plans to relocate her family to a safer and more comfortable space.
Expressing gratitude, the BBNaija star thanked God for His protection, describing the incident as a narrow escape.
“Dear Lord, I am grateful. Thank you for Your love and Your protection,” she wrote.
