Veteran Nigerian rapper Naetochukwu Chikwe, popularly known as Naeto C, has finally provided insight into why he stepped back from the music industry at the height of his career.
In a candid podcast interview, the “Ten Over Ten” hitmaker explained that his hiatus was a deliberate personal choice driven by a desire to prioritize his family and the long-term future he envisioned.
Naeto C revealed that his perspective shifted significantly following major life milestones. After marrying in 2012 and welcoming his first child in 2013, he began to re-evaluate how the demanding lifestyle of a full-time music career fit into his vision of fatherhood and marriage.
“I think I wanted something different when I thought about my future and the kind of life I wanted,” Naeto C shared. “I don’t really think I would get the kind of life I wanted if I continued to focus on music.”
Reflecting on his entry into the entertainment scene, the rapper noted that his early years were fueled by a genuine love for hip-hop rather than a thirst for fame or financial gain. He described his rise as a natural progression of following his passion, which eventually helped shape the sound of Nigerian rap in the mid-2000s.
While he has been largely absent from the airwaves, Naeto C admitted he had hoped to return with fresh material in 2025. However, personal challenges caused a delay in those plans.
Despite the long break, the rapper’s influence remains undeniable, as fans eagerly anticipate the return of one of the industry’s most respected “Super C” figures.
