The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken into custody a Nigerian national, Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba, over a string of violent crimes, as authorities move to deport him from the country.
ICE disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X handle, describing Ijaoba as a criminal illegal immigrant and a former member of the Bloods, a notorious and violent street gang in the United States.
According to the agency, Ijaoba entered the US illegally and later built an extensive criminal record.
His convictions include aggravated assault on a police officer with a firearm, assault and aggravated assault, armed robbery, drug sales, obstruction, and escaping from police custody.
ICE said the Nigerian currently has a final order of removal and is being held in ICE custody while awaiting deportation.
The agency added that the arrest forms part of its ongoing efforts to remove criminal illegal immigrants and protect public safety across the United States.
