Kano: Mob kills 3 motorcycle thieves, sets NSCDC outpost ablaze

Members of a mob demanding the release have killed three alleged motorcycle thieves and set an outpost of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at Danmaje in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano where they were being detained ablaze.
While conforming the incident, the spokesperson of NSCDC in Kano, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, disclosed that the incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025 when residents of Yansango community brought three unidentified suspects alleged to be motorcycle thieves to the NSCDC outpost at Danmaje.
He said the suspects were reportedly apprehended at a location known for motorcycle robbery within the area.
He said before any investigation could commence, the residents from various communities, including Yansango, Madinawa, Gagarawa, Limawa, Yankatsari, Danmaje and Gurjiya, converged at the outpost and demanded that the suspects be released to them.
“The situation escalated rapidly as the mob cordoned off the office.
“Before reinforcement could arrive, the mob forcefully gained entry into the outpost, set it on fire and lynched the three suspects.
“Our officers on duty escaped, with three of them sustaining various degrees of injury, now receiving medical attention” Abdullahi said
The NSCDC appealed to the residents of Dawakin Kudu and the public to remain calm as well as avoid taking the law into their hands.
Abdullahi stated that the Corps’ State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, through the directive of the Commandant-General, had constituted a committee of inquiry to conduct a full-scale investigation into the incident.
He said efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack, with a view to bringing them to justice, while reiterating its commitment to the protection of lives and property.
